Exporters are calling on the Chamber of Commerce to advice the Agriculture Ministry to alter its customs practices, which have resulted in significant losses. Trucks carrying food products from Serbia have been held at the border with Montenegro on several occasions as a result of the introduction of additional customs barriers, and exporters have stated that the losses incurred have added up to more than EUR 150,000 already. Losses result from violations of CEFTA agreement After an intervention, the Veterinary Administration promised that the CEFTA agreement would pre respected and that no further incidents would occur. The CEFTA agreement is also being discussed at the ongoing Croatia Summit, which began in Dubrovnik on Friday. Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said that CEFTA is very important for the region. “We are working to strengthen trade between all regional countries equally, and strengthen trade potential and trade as a whole. We maintain that CEFTA is one of the main instruments for taking responsibility for the development of trade in the region,” Kosor said.
