All Jat Airways flights have been canceled until further notice, says the company management, adding that passengers will be kept informed of developments. Jat Airways says it is doing all it can to ensure that aircraft take off as soon as possible and to resolve the strike by Jat Tehnika employees, stressing that Tehnika will have to carry the can for all damages. Jat flights canceled till further notice Jat Airways adds that it has laid on a charter flight to Donetsk airport that has a licensed mechanic, and that the same plane will take passengers to Moscow. Passengers on last night's flight from Manastir traveled on a Tunis Air plane. Passengers on flights to Sarajevo, Skopje and Salonika were offered the possibility of either taking a different flight or overnight accommodation in a Belgrade hotel. Jat will be forced to ground its entire fleet because of the strike. Jat Tehnika owes its employees over EUR 1.1mn.Jat Tehnika officials say that the strike only applies to Jat Airways aircraft and that they will be performing regular checks on the planes of other companies. Flights were cancelled last night to a number of locations, including Sarajevo, Skopje and Abu Dhabi. Jat says that passengers will be able to exchange their tickets for other flights in the coming days. Jat Airways Managing Director Srdjan Radovanovic told B92 that all flights up to 15:00 CET on Wednesday had been cancelled, because of what he called the “blackmailing policies of Jat Tehnika officials.” He blamed the dispute on a government decision several years ago to separate Tehnika from the Jat system, leaving Jat Airways without any way of maintaining its own planes. “Jat Airways is not able to maintain its planes in any way. That is the result of constant blackmailing by Tehnika, as far as the prices of their services goes, and their unrealistic demands that do not recognize the fact that we are all in a very difficult economic situation,” Radovanovic said. The six-month negotiations between Tehnika and the government to repay the debt of EUR 1.3mn ended without an agreement. Jat Tehnika boss Srdjan Miskovic said that Tehnika’s revenue from jobs done for Jat Airways amounted to 70 percent of its total income and that wages were overdue because of Jat Airways’ debts. The unions have rejected Miskovic’s proposal to give the state more time before striking. “The fact is that a solution must be found quickly, because the situation is fraught. People have not received wages in over a month and Jat workers are getting paid regularly, and that is why people are unhappy, and disgruntled people do not do their jobs well,” he said.
