Trade and Services Minister Slobodan Milosavljevic said that he expects economic recovery in Serbia to be achieved in 2010. He said that the inflation rate this year will remain in the single digits. Minister expects recovery in 2010 “The fact that the inflation rate will remain in the single digits is psychologically important, because we are in a difficult year and have been successful in finishing it within the boundaries of the projected economic policies, and that is a good start for next year,” Milosavljevic said. He said that the priority of his ministry for the end of the year will be the fight to maintain macroeconomic stability, especially in the sector of prices, living standards, buying power, and supplying the market. Milosavljevic said that in the last three months the announced decreases in prices occurred, which helped ease the effects of the large increase in prices over the prior months, which were the result of the altered excise policies and the need to supplement the budget with increased taxes. The Trade Minister said that he expects that the law for protecting consumers will be adopted by the government in early October, and that the parliament is expected to adopt it in early 2010 at the latest. “The Trade Ministry will complete everything planned for this year and help achieve the goals of our macroeconomic policies,” Milosavljevic said.
