The exchange rate of the dinar (RSD) will remain stable, but not fixed, says National Bank of Serbia (NBS) governor Radovan Jelasic. The central bank will continue to create conditions for the normal functioning of the foreign currency market, he added. Asked to comment on the fact that the state each month records a deficit of RSD 9bn, which it is now covered in part by issuing securities, Jelasic said it is best for the state not need additional financing, but that it is "better to take out loans at home than abroad if there does happen to be an increased deficit".
