Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, who is in Trieste on a two-day visit, says that Fiat's investment in Serbia might be even bigger than expected. “We see our relationship with Fiat as one of the most important industrial investments in Serbia, and based on the information we share with our partners, we are confident that the economic crisis can only postpone the completion of the project and not stop it,” Cvetkovic said in a statement to Italian news agency ANSA. He also said that Serbia was optimistic about the future since the crisis was showing signs of receding and Serbia was creating an environment favorable for investment. Cvetkovic will meet today with regional and local officials. He will take part in the work of the Economic-Financial Forum in Trieste, where he will showcase to Italian investors the benefits of investing in Serbia, ANSA reports. This year marks the 140th anniversary of the blessing of Serbian Orthodox Church, St. Spiridon, in Trieste, and the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic and commercial relations with Italy.
