An agreement for a EUR 250mn loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help small and medium-sized businesses in Serbia will be signed on May 11.

An agreement for a EUR 250mn loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help small and medium-sized businesses in Serbia will be signed on May 11. The announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European integration Bozidar Djelic. Serbia in line for EUR 250mn EIB loan Taking part in a debate on the ramifications of Serbia’s EU integration, he noted that Serbia would receive around EUR 3bn in non-returnable EU pre-accession funds, stressing that Brussels was “without equal, Serbia’s biggest donor.” He pointed that 80 percent of funds invested in Corridor 10 were coming from European sources, be it the European Commission, the EIB, or the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The minister said that EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn had announced yesterday that the EC had decided to grant Serbia non-returnable budgetary assistance of around EUR 100mn.
