IMF, WB praise Serbia, governor says

Serbia's banking system has received praise from the World Bank and the IFM, National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Radovan Jelasic stated. This, he explained, came due to the country's restrictive monetary policy. Serbia will continue with the same policy, "but that doesn't mean challenges will not arise", the central bank chief warned. "One thing is certain, and that is that in the future, all countries, Serbia included, will need to rely on domestic savings as the main source of crediting," he said. Speaking for the state television RTS, Jelasic said that the world economy is facing a historic challenge, and that many measure have been taken in order to make money cheaper and halt the recession. "We won't have to wait for that for a long time, it's a question of days now," the governor was optimistic.
