Trade Minister Slobodan Milosavljevic once again said that there are no monopolies in the Serbian market. He added that his claim is corroborated by the data released by the Serbian Statistical Office. “No market monopolies in Serbia” “Everyone is allowed to fight to become a monopolist, but they are not allowed to abuse that position. When it is confirmed and proven that someone abused that position, then they will face sanctions,” Milosavljevic said. Ahead of a presentation of a document dubbed, the Strategy and Policy of the Development of Trade in Serbia, the minister said that Delta Holding, often accused forming a retail monopoly, is "a Serbian reality” and that it is not his job to investigate anyone’s past, Delta included. “The reality is that this is the leading retail chain in the Serbian market… I can say that what they are doing is good for Serbian companies, because they are reaching new places where they can realize their plans. Everything else is for some other institutions, bodies,” Milosavljevic said. Speaking of the rising prices of meat, Milosavljevic said that there are no excuses for that, or hikes in the prices of any agricultural products, as this year's harvests have produced above average yields. Milosavljevic said that there are three goals of the strategy: developing small and medium-sized companies, expanding Serbia’s trade in the region and strengthening competitiveness in the country.
