The total value of bank loans taken out in Serbia reached EUR 13bn at the end of July. The number, made public by the country's Credit Bureau, represents a 16 percent increase on January 2008. Loans approved to citizens make up 31 percent of the overall debt figure, up six percent and reaching EUR 4.2bn in the first six months of this year. At the same time, the number of credit card users grew 4.9 percent to reach 909.385.
