Exchange rate will stabilize – Jelašić

National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Radovan Jelasic says the domestic currency will become stable. He today announced that the mean rate of exchange on Wednesday will most likely be around RSD 81-81.5 for one euro, depending on the transactions in the inter-banking hard currency market. Exchange rate will stabilize – Jelasic In a statement for reporters, Jelasic said the euro was worth around 81 dinars in the latest transactions on the hard currency market, which means that an additional settling of the exchange rate will most probably occur tomorrow, when the numbers are expected to return to the so-called balanced level of several weeks ago. On Oct 29, the dinar reached a record value of RSD 76.8093 against the euro, according to the NBS mean rate of exchange, after which it began to weaken, so that the rate of exchange on Friday, Nov 30, was RSD 84.754 for one euro. The exchange rate e today is at RSD 82.2797. The central bank intervened in the hard currency market on Thursday, for the first time since May 9, by selling EUR 4mn in order to prevent excessive fluctuation.
