The government has come up with a new concept for the privatization of the country's public enterprises. The policy envisages that 51 percent of NIS shares will to a strategic partner, while 34 percent would remain in state ownership, with 15 percent of stock distributed gratis. NIS to foreigners, EPS, Telekom to remain state-owned "The same concept will apply to Jat Airways, except for the fact we have not yet determined whether a strategic partner will get 49 or 51 percent of shares," Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic told a news conference held at the seat of the Serbian government in Belgrade today. The concept sees power corporation EPS, Telekom serbia, Nikola Tesla Airport and Galenika pharmaceuticals all remain majority state-owned. 15 percent of shares of these companies will be floated in the Belgrade Stock Exchange (BSE), the same amount will be distributed to citizens, while 70 percent will go to the state. Dinkic also announced that the law to regulate this distribution will likely make it to the parliamentary procedure by the end of this month. According to him, some four million citizens will be entitled to gratis shares, with the right to also buy pubic company shares worth up to EUR 5,000.
