EUR 291mn from privatization

Mladjan Dinkic stated today that EUR 291mn had been generated from privatizations since the turn of the year. The economy and regional development minister added that of that figure, EUR 180mn had been collected in the last four months since the formation of the new government. EUR 291mn from privatization Dinkic told a news conference that in the first five months of the year privatization income had been EUR 111mn, which could be explained by the uncertainty surrounding the formation of the new government at the time. He added that for the first time since the beginning of the transition period, the government would on Thursday approve a subsidy for a company in Kosovo. EUR 500,000 will be granted to the socially owned Trepca company in Kosovska Mitrovica that will lead to the creation of 250 new jobs. He repeated that the starting price for the RK Beograd would be EUR 149mn, pointing out that the winner would be the highest bidder with the price rising by EUR 5mn per bid, and that moreover the auction would be broadcast live on TV. Dinkic noted that the sale of the bankrupt RK Beograd Company would be the biggest privatization deal since the new government entered office.
